The Arkansas Black apple is one of the crispiest and most dense apples around. It is a late maturing apple that is generally considered best for cooking & desserts rather than eating out of hand.
Originated in Benton County, Arkansas in 1870. Medium to large sized round red apple. Color deepens to purplish red or nearly black. Firm, crisp, yellowish flesh with distinctive flavor. Aromatic. Flavor improves with storage. Keeps well.
